REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF MAY 17, 1982.
REPORT NO. WD-40-82.
SUBJECT: 1982 CULVERT MAINTENANCE AND CONSTRUCTION.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . That this report be received, and;
2. That Staff be authorized to obtain quotations for the
supply and delivery of corrugated steel culvert, in
accordance with the 1982 Budget allowance for this
item, and;
3. That the award for the supply and delivery of the
corrugated steel pipe be subject to Committee and
Council approval .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:

Each year the Public Works Department purchases various lengths
and sizes of corrugated steel culvert to fulfill the maintenance
and construction needs. In an attempt to formalize purchasing
procedures, and to quickly obtain a competitive purchase price for
the materials required, it is recommended that Staff obtain written
quotations from the various suppliers of corrugated steel pipe.

It is suggested that, upon receipt of quotations, they will be
reviewed and compared with the Regional Municipality of Durham's
WD-40-82 - 2
Co-operative Tender for the Supply and Delivery of Corrugated Steel
Culvert, with a recommendation submitted to Committee and Council
for approval . This method of procedure has been discussed with the
Town Purchasing Agent and meets with his approval .
The value of the 1982 purchases is estimated to be in the region of
$24,000. 00. , and will be distributed to Public Works ' allocations
as follows:
7204-000-035 Culvert Construction - Various
Locations.
7205-000-000 Road Construction - various locations.
7206-000-332 Culvert Maintenance - various locations.
7206-000-353 Entrance Culverts - various locations.
This purchase item is eligible for subsidy by the Ministry of
Transportation & Communications at the rate of 80% for Culvert
Construction and Maintenance, and 100% recovery under Entrance
Installation.
