REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF APRIL 19, 1982.
REPORT NO. WD-30-82.
SUBJECT: Special Spring Garbage Collection - Bowmanville.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . THAT the special springtime garbage collection, with-
in the former Town of Bowmanville, provided for the
disposal of items not normally included during regular
services, be undertaken, and;
2. THAT Monday and Tuesday, May 10th and 11th, 1982, be
designated for the collection service in the area
south of King Street, Bowmanville, and;
3• THAT Thursday and Friday, May 13th and 14th , 1982, be
designated for the collection service in the area
north of King Street, Bowmanville, and;
4. THAT the appropriate notice be placed in the local
newspaper.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:

In past years it has been the usual practice to provide a special spring
garbage collection within the Municipal Area of Bowmanville. This service
gives residents the opportunity to dispose of items which would not
normally be collected during the operation of weekly pickup services,
and under the terms of By-Law 78-34.

By-Law 78-34 stipulates that Council may establish dates for special
garbage collection, and the dates recommended would permit the service
to be accomplished within the normal schedule of Public Works
Department activities.
