REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF FEBRUARY 22, 1982.
WD-11-82.
SUBJECT: Boulton Street, Village of Newcastle.
Extension of Water Serviced Area.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . THAT Council approves the proposal to extend the
watermain on Boulton Street in the Village of
Newcastle and the Regional Municipality of Durham
be advised of the Town's interest in the provision
of water to service the Municipally-owned lot, and;
2. THAT provision to cover the total estimated cost
of the extension to the water service, in the
amount of $5,055. 95 (Five Thousand and Fifty-Five
Dollars and Ninety-Five Cents) , (be made in the 1982 _
Budget.) '
BACKGROUND AND REPORT:
As Members of Council are aware, in order to extend a watermain
service, all affected property owners must be in agreement and an
amendment to the Regional Official Plan is required: Council has
already approved the amendment, and the attached correspondence
details the Region's proposal to provide water to service lots on
Boulton Street in the Village of Newcastle. The service will cover
the area of Boulton Street, from Mill Street to 80.47 metres east
of Park Street.

As will be seen from the attached map, the Town presently owns a
lot on Boulton Street and Staff feels that it would be appropriate
to take advantage of the Region of Durham's proposal as, at some
future time, the Municipality may wish to sell the parcel of land
as a potential residential building lot, and the existence of a
water service would greatly enhance the market value.
The estimated expenditure involved in the provision of servicing
to the Town-owned lot would be $4,060. 95 (Frontage Charges) plus
$995. 00 (Connection) .
