SUBJECT: Regional Municipality of Durham Waste Disposal Rates.
BACKGROUND:
The Town of Newcastle uses the Landfill Site operated by the
Regional Municipality of Durham for disposal of waste materials
and the operating agency makes dumping charges in respect of
same.
REPORT:
Attached is notification from Mr. R.D. Siblock, Manager of
Revenues and Receivables, that the Region of Durham will be
increasing the charges levied for waste disposal, effective
February 1, 1981.
The rate increase is from $8. 50t per tonne to $9. 75� per
tonne.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the correspondence from the Regional Municipality of
Durham relative to the increase in charges for disposal of
waste at the Landfill Site be received for information.

Re: Notice - 1981 Waste Disposal-Charges
At its meeting on November 18, 1980, the Regional Works
Committee approved a new Regional Waste Disposal Rate
for 1981 in the amount of $9 ,75 per metric tonne, ($8.'86
per ton) .
It is anticipated . that Regional Council will approve of
this recommendation early in December.
Please be advised that the new rate will take effect on
February 1, 1981, and will remain in effect for the balance
of 1981.
