TOWN OF NEWCASTLE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
Director's Report to Public Works Committee of February 17, 1981.
ITEM: WD-27-81.
DATE: February 6, 1981.
SUBJECT: Walkway between First Street/C.P. Railway.
Part of Lot 12, Concession 2, Bowmanville.
BACKGROUND:
In the Fall of 1980, Mr. Leo MacLean wrote to this Department
enquiring if it was possible to purchase, or receive permission
to use, the walkway which runs between his and a neighbour's
property. Mr. MacLean stated that he wished to use half the
walkway width (some six feet) as a garden.
REPORT:
The walkway in question is of little use to the Town; it is,
presently, grassed and may as well be used and maintained as
a garden as become overgrown and unsightly.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT permission be granted to Mr. Leo MacLean to use half the
width of the walkway abutting his property at No. 5 First Street,
Bowmanville, (Part of Lot 12, Concession 2, ) as a garden, for
as long as the land is not required by the Town of Newcastle.
