Director's Report to Public Works Committee of April 14, 1981.
Item: WD-52-81.
Date: April 2, 1981.
Subject: Special Garbage Pick-Up, ORONO.
Recommendation:
THAT a Special Garbage Pick-Up, within the Municipal Collection
Area of the (former) Village of Orono, be provided in respect of
items not normally included during regular services and, further,
that the following date be established:
MONDAY, May 11th, 1981.
Report:
On January 26, 1981, the Town of Newcastle contracted to provide
Garbage Collection to residents of the (former) Village of Orono,
and the tender. of T. Puckrin & Sons Limited was accepted for this
service.
Item 3 of Contract No. 80-12 details that the Contractor shall
provide:
(ii) A special collection in the Spring of
each year, at a time to be specified
by Council.
As it has been past practice to arrange for a Spring Pick-Up in
the Municipal Collection Area of Bowmanville, which service is
provided by Municipal forces, the Contractor has indicated that
he can and will accommodate the terms of the Contract on a regular
collection day, by the employment of additional manpower and
equipment.
From discussions with the Contractor, May 11, 1981, was proposed
as the appropriate date for Spring Garbage Collection in Orono.
