TOWN OF NEWCASTLE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT Director's Report to Public Works Committee of June 9, 1981. Item: WD-86-81. Date: June 8, 1981. Subject: Summerfield Court, Bowmanville. Recommendation: 1. THAT the Town acquire an Easement for existing storm drainage works. 2. THAT the Town obtain a Permission to Enter Agreement for the purpose of drainage works. 3. That, upon completion of the drainage works, the Town not be responsible for any future maintenance, other than to the portion of the storm sewer for which a drainage easement is held . • I Report: I As a result of concerns expressed regarding rear lot drainage at No. 15 Summerfield Court in Bowmanville, the matter was reviewed and included in the 1981 Budget as a priority item. From Summerfield Court to Sunset Road there is a walkway which is ten feet in width-but, between existing fences, the width varies from 7 ft. 4 ins. to 8 ft. A sanitary sewer runs through the centre of the walkway; from an on-site investigation is- has been determined that the storm sewer on Sunset Road is not on the street but in the boulevard and serves little or no purposes other than two catch basins. In view of our findings it is impossible to construct a storm sewer through the walkway, due both to existing plant and width rest- rictions, therefore the only alternative is to obtain an agreement with the affected property owner whereby the Town may construct a manhole and install one hundred feet of 18" C.I.P. on private property. It is suggested that a Permission to Enter Agreement be executed which will indicate, the Town's purpose; the affected owners would be responsible for 'the final grading, topsoiling, seeding or sodding. Further to this an Easement should be obtained in respect of the storm sewer presently located on private property.
