Director's Report to Public Works Committee of September
15, 1981.

Subject: Sucee Subdivision - Burketon.
Underground Wiring.
Recommendation:
THAT Schedule 'H' of the Sucee Subdivision Agreement be
amended to provide for the installation of overhead primary
services with pole locations adequate to accommodate street
lighting wherever possible and, further, that secondary
services to all lots be underground with all plans and
locations to be approved by the Director of Public Works.
Report:
Schedule 'H' of the Subdivision Agreement between Sucee and
the Town of Newcastle provides for the installation of an
underground electrical supply system to service the lands,
in locations approved by the Director.
The Developer has now requested an amendment to Schedule 'H'
to allow for overhead wiring and, as the development is of
a rural design, this can be considered. It is recommended,
however, that, if overhead wiring is approved, it be con-
ditional upon pole locations being adequate for the accomm-
odation of street lighting and the secondary services to all
to all lots be underground.

Dear Sirs :
Re: Sucee Subdivision - Burketon
In reviewing the requirements for road
construction within this subdivision we find that
it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible
to install underground plant in the location
identified for such installation in your drawing
NS-201. This condition would be particularly bad
in Tanglewood Court.
Due to the foregoing situation, we would
strongly support installation of an overhead
distribution system in this subdivision.

Schedule "H"
Please be advised that R. Sucee will be forwarding
• letter to the Public Works Committee requesting
• change to Schedule "H" of his subdivision agreement ,
to allow for overhead wiring in his Plan .
I have no objection to Sucees ' request from a planning
point of view, noting that R. Walters of Hydro is ,
according to Sucee , now satisfied with poles rather
than an underground system,
Mr . Sucee will attend the September 15 , 1981 Committee
Meeting as a delegation with correspondence from
Hydro .
I believe that a recommendation of the Committee to

Council on your verbal recommendation , would be sufficient
rather than a staff report being necessary .
I would suggest a Committee Resolution to the effect
of the following :
"The Public Works Committee hereby recommends that
Schedule "H" to the Subdivision Agreement between the
Town and R. Sucee be amended to allow for the installation
of overhead Wiring within the Sucee Subdivision . "
