Director's Report to Public Works Committee of September 15, 1981.
Item: WD-106-81.
Date: September 1, 1981.
Subject: Proposed Parking Lot for Fisherman,
Wilmot Creek Area.
Recommendation:
WHEREAS off-right-of-way parking is required in the area of Wilmot
Creek, it is therefore recommended that the Ministry of Natural
Resources request to construct a parking lot be granted and, further,
that an access permit be approved conditional upon it being under-
stood and agreed by the Ministry that no maintenance to the proposed
access be provided by the Town.
Report:
Correspondence has been received from the Ministry of Natural Res-
ources requesting permission to construct a parking lot for the use
of fishermen at Wilmot Creek.
In 1979 the Ministry of Transportation & Communications prohibited
parking on Highway 401 in the area of Wilmot Creek and this prompted
the Ministry of Natural Resources to apply for access from Cobble-
dick Road in order that they could construct a parking lot to
accommodate approximately twelve (12) vehicles. The access was
constructed by the Town, as requested.
The current proposal is to construct a parking lot off the road
allowance east of the Wilmot Creek, between Highway 401 and the
Canadian National Railway. In the location requested the access would
be from an unmaintained road, immediately north of a maintained
portion of the right-of-way.
The parking lot would be most used during the Springtime, when
fishing activity is at it's height and it is felt that, by the
provision of a planned parking area, congestion would be relieved
in the area.
In view of the foregoing it is recommended that the permit for
access be granted and that this be conditional upon the express
understanding that the Town will not provide any maintenance to
the unmaintained portion of the road allowance from which access
is gained.

Attention: J. Dunham, Director of Public Works
Dear Sir:
Further to our tele hone conversation on July 22, 1981
(O'Donnell - Dunham , we would like permission to construct
a parking lot for fishermen at Wilmot Creek.
The parking lot will be located off the road allowance
on the east side of Wilmot Creek between the C.N.R. tracks
and highway 401. The area will be fenced with a locked
gate across the road allowance. A key will be given to the
farmer for access to his fields.
If further information is required please contact A.P.
O'Donnell at this office.
Yours very truly,
