SUBJECT: Resolution # C-1104-81.
Request for improvements to
Cedar Crest Beach Road, Bowmanville.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. THAT this Report be received, and;
2. THAT a Prime Surface be applied to the
Cedar Crest Beach Road in 1982, and pro-
visions for same be made in the Public
Works Budget in respect of Road and
Street Maintenance.

BACKGROUND:
By Resolution # C-1104-81, Council referred a request
for the improvement of Cedar Crest Beach Road to Staff for consid-
eration. The road in question is situated immediately east of
Waverley Road, adjacent to Lake Ontario. Registered Plan No. 318
dedicated a sixty-six foot (66 ft.) right-of-way to the former
Township of Darlington, but, in actual fact the road itself, or the
usable portion thereof, is only fourteen to sixteen feet in width.

COMMENT:
The subject roadway has an adequate granular base to
accommodate a prime surface; it presently provides access to app-
roximately forty cottage properties on the lakefront, and receives
minimal maintenance in the form of grading, snow plowing and dust
control.
It is requested that a similar surface to that of
Waverley Road be applied to Cedar Crest Beach Road, from immediately
south of St. Mary's Cement where the existing prime surface term-
inates.
It is estimated that, in order to comply with the
request of the Cedar Crest Beach Ratepayers' Association, a cost
factor of some $2,000. 00 (Two Thousand Dollars) would be expended.
This would be in respect of the application of a prime surface, to
the existing granular base, to the approximate width of the roadway
as now travelled.
