Director's Report to Public Works Con-'Id Uee of October 28, 1980,
Imo: WD-149-80.
DATE: October 21, 1980.
SUBJECT: One-Foot Reserve.
East limit of Tyler Street, Mitchell's
Corners.
BACKGROUND:
The attached correspondence, from Mr. Ross A. McMaster, was ref-
erred by the Mayor for a Report to the Public Works Coamittee. In
the letter dated October 7, 1980, the Town is requested to grant
approval of an access onto Tyler Street, Mitchell's Corners.
REPORT:
At the time of development it is customary for a one-foot reserve
to be imposed, where streets terminate or are dead ends; this
ensures a Municipality that, prior to any extension of certain
streets, various conditions are met, after which the one-foot
reserve is lifted.
The foregoing is applicable to Tyler Street, where aone-foot
reserve was placed at the time of development years ago.
the writer of the attached has recently closed the (unsafe) drive-
way onto Taunton Road, and requests that he be allowed alternate
access via Tyler Street; however, the imposition of the one-foot
reserve determines that it must be lifted prior to anyone acquiring
access over same.
RECOMNII?NDATION:
THAT, in view of the legal. implications involved, cam-yents be
obtained from the Town Solicitor relevant to granting approval of
access over the one-foot reserve on Tyler Street, Mitchell's
Corners, and that it be determined if there would be any future
impact to the Town if consideration should be given to lifting
the one-foot reserve at this time.
