SUBJECT: Ashton Subdivision - One Foot Reserve.
BACKGROUND:
In 1966 a Plan of Subdivision (No. 680) was developed in Lot 35,
Concession 6, former Darlington, immediately north of Solina and
within the Plan an allowance for a future road (commonly known as
Hillside Drive) was made. At the west limit of the road a one-foot
reserve had been placed to effectively control any future develop-
ment west of the allowance.
In 1979 another Plan of Subdivision was created, west of the above
road allowance, developed by William and Viola Ashton and, in
conjunction with this Plan of Subdivision they proposed to use the
existing allowance for access onto Soling Road to the east.
With the previous establishment of the one foot reserve, the Town
was entitled to request the Ashton Development to construct the
road and this has now been completed.
REPORT:
The existing one foor reserve (Block "A', Plan 680) can now be
lifted to legally allow access from the Ashton Subdivision to the
east.
RECOMMATION:
THAT Block "A' of Registered Plan No. 680, being a one-foot
reserve, be lifted and the by-law in respect of same be forwarded
to Council for approval and that the subject Block be declared a
Public Highway.

THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW ND• 80-130
being a by-law to establish a one foot reserve
on Registered Plan No. 680 as a Public Highway.
BE IT ENACTED and it is hereby enacted as a by-law of the
Tam of Newcastle by the Council thereof as follows:
1. The following land is hereby established as a public
highway to be and to form part .of the public highway
known as Hillside Drive in the Town of 1\1ewcastle.
The said land hereby established as a public highway
is described as follows:
ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land
and premises situate, laying and being in the Town of
Newcastle in the Regional Municipality of Durham
(formerly in the Township of Darlington, in the County
of Durham) and being composed of the one foot reserve
at the west limit of Hillside Drive as shown on
Registered Plan 680 and more particularly described as
Block "A '.
