Director's Report to Public Works Committee of September 30, 1980.
ITEM: GID-126-80.
nATE: September 22, 1980.
SUBJECT: Village of Haydon.
BACKGROUND:
The attached correspondence was referred, by Council, to the Public
Works Committee, for "study and report", and is in regard to the
matters of street lighting, sidewalks and drainage in the Village
of Haydon.
REPORT:
Where street lighting is provided, the costs associated with same
are borne by the areas in question, and are comprised of levies
for installation and operation of the system.
In February, 1980, in Report WD-24-80, sidewalks were identified
as having deteriorated beyond restoration and it was stated that,
in considering the matter of sidewalks for Haydon, it should be
borne in mind that new construction would be necessary. However,
meanwhile, affirmation was given that any holes in the sidewalks
would be repaired.
Recently, ditching for drainage purposes has been undertaken and
it is unclear whether the concerns expressed in the correspondence
attached is relative to this work, or whether the situation to
which reference is made was that which existed prior to the latter
ditching.
RECOM EMATION:
'THAT the correspondence from Mr. James L. Graham be acknowledged
with the advice that costs associated with Street Lighting are
assessed to the benefitting area and, further, when Sidewalks
are considered they will require reconstruction and that the
recently effected drainage works may resolves the concerns
relative to this matter.
