SUBJECT: Rehabilitation Security paid to
Licenced Pit and Quarry Operators.
BACKGROUND:
Attached is correspondence received from the Ministry of Natural
Resources in which indication is given that, effective January 1,
1981, the rehabilitation security payable to the Treasurer of
Ontario by Licenced Pit and Quarry Operators, will increase from
two (2�) cents per ton (Imperial) to eight (8�) per tonne (Metric) .
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the correspondence received from the Ministry of Natural
Resources dated September 8, 1980, be received for information
and that note be made that the action taken by the Province of
Ontario will result in increased costs for the Town of Newcastle
in respect of granular materials and the operations associated
therewith.
