ITEM: WD-118-80.

SUBJECT: Regional Road 4 and Concessions 4 & 5,
former Darlington (Mr. Henry Nixon) .
BACK(ROUND:
The attached correspondence is in request for a road closure and
conveyance, and/or for the Town to acquire Part 1 , shown on the
accompanying sketch.
The subject road allowance is unmaintained and at one time was the
travelled portion of what is now known as Regional Road 4 (Taunton
Road) . As a result of a realignment the road allowance is now not
maintained but remains under the jurisdiction of the Town of
Newcastle.
The writer of the attached is requesting information as to possible
costs, including those for the land, and whether, if it should
transpire that costs would "be excessive" if the Town would be
prepared to acquire Part 1, as shown, at a fair market value.
REPORT:
In order to establish probable costs, an Appraisal of Land Value is
required, in accordance kd_th Town Policy.
It should be noted that, in the writer's opinion, the Town would
not have any interest in the acquisition of Part 1 of the lands,
as suggested.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the unmaintained portion of the road allowance in Part Lot
2, Concessions 4 & 5, former Township of Darlington, be closed
and conveyed, in accordance with Town of Newcastle Policy.
