Director's Report to Public Works Committee of September 2, 1980.
ITEM: WD-110-80.
DATE: August 22, 1980.
SUBJECT: Proposed Alterations to Concrete Culvert.
Regional Road 17 (1.3 km. south of
Taunton Road, Orono.
BACKGROUND:
The attached correspondence advises that alterations are proposed
to the subject culvert; the Region of Durham indicate that they
will perform the work in 1981 and request that we notify them
of any concerns in the matter.
REPORT:
The culvert in question is geographically located immediately
south of the Business Section of Orono and it is felt that the
Town may wish to consider the inclusion of a sidewalk as part of
the culvert alterations.
Concerns relative to Street Lighting should, perhaps, be directed
to the Newcastle Hydro Electric Coarnission.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. THAT consideration be given to incorporating
a sidewalk with the proposed culvert alter-
ations by the Region of Durham and, further,
that costs applicable to the Town, if any,
be obtain for review and/or approval.
2. THAT Street Lighting improvements and any
proposals or requirements therefor, be
referred to the Newcastle Hydro Electric
Cmmnt for review and comment.
