Commiss ioner of Works Dear Sir:
Please quote our ref, Re: Intersection at Enniskillen
TRA-RR-3 This is in reply to your letter of May 27, 1980 in which
you enclosed Resolution W-113-80 of the Newcastle Public
Works Committee relative to the intersection of Regional
Road 3 and the Old Scugog Road at Enniskillen.
We have investigated this intersection to determine what,
if any, operational problems exist. As you are aware, the
terrain through this section does not lend itself to a proper
geometric design of the intersection without considerable
cost. A flashing light is in operation at this location and
the posted speed limit is 50 kph. In order to improve the
sight distance to the west, we have cut the grass on the
northwest corner. In addition, we will be upgrading the
signing on the south leg of the intersection to more clearly
designate the right-of-way at the large traffic island.
We have reviewed the accident records at this location and
have found only one collision has been reported during the
past five years. Major improvements are, therefore, not
warranted at this time.
I apologize for the delay in responding to your letter, however,
we had difficulty determining the exact nature of the complaint.
Yours truly,
IVED
