Director's Report to Public Works Committee.
Item: WD-45-80.
Date: March 27, 1980.
P
Subject: Referral - Petition for Storm Sewers.
Scugog Street, Bowmanville, from
O'Dell Street to Jackman Road.
Background:
The subject Petition was referred, by Council, to the Public
Works Committee, and is requesting that storm sewers be installed
on Scugog Street, Bowmanville, from O'Dell Street to Jackman Road.
The storm drainage on Scugog Street, from O'Dell to Jackman Road,
is by way of 'open ditch' and this, under normal conditions, can
accommodate the runoff.
Scugog Street, from King Street to the northerly limits, is def-
icient; urban design has been completed for the reconstruction of
Scugog, from King to O'Dell.
Report:
During 1980, a preliminary urban design will be prepared for
Scugog Street for the section from O'Dell to the north limits. It
should be noted that Regional services are involved, the preliminary
design plans would have to be submitted to the Region before it
could be determined to what extent reconstruction would affect
their services; in view of this it is difficult to state at this
time when the project could be initiated.
Attached, also, is a copy of the Town of Newcastle Policy for the
Construction of Storm Sewers, in which Item 6 defines the method
of financing, if storm sewers were to be constructed prior to road
construction.
I
i
Recommendation:
WHEREAS the year in which the reconstruction of Scugog Street, from
O'Dell Street to Jackman Road is not et determined, termined, the Petitioners
be advised of the Policy for the Construction of Storm Sewers.
