Item: WD-20-80.
Date: February 12, 1980.
Subject: Toronto Street, Village of Newcastle.
Background:
Due to the construction of Highway 401, certain properties loc-
ated in Lots 29 & 30, Concession 1 (former Clarke) would become
land-locked and, as a result, a service road was built to give
access to industrial and farm lands south of the new highway.
In March of 1965 the Department of Highways of Ontario trans-
ferred the service road, known as Toronto Street, to the Village
of Newcastle.
Report:
Toronto Street, Village of Newcastle, has never been assumed by
by-law, or formally incorporated into the Municipal roads system.
A proposed by-law, to accomplish this, is attached.
Recommendation:
THAT Toronto Street, as shown on Department of
Highways Plan No. P-2704-81 as Parts 1 & 2, be
assumed by by-law by the Town of Newcastle, for
public use as a public highway.

BY-LAW
Being a By-Law to dedicate certain lands as
a Public Highway in the Town of Newcastle.
BE IT ENACTED, AND IT IS HEREBY ENACTED as a By-Law of the
Corporation of the Town of Newcastle, by the Council thereof,
as follows:
THE FOLLOWING LAND IS HEREBY ESTABLISHED AS A PUBLIC HIGHWAY,
to be, and to form part of, the Public Highway known as Toronto
Street in the Village of Newcastle, now within the limits of
the Town of Newcastle.
THE SAID LAND hereby established as a Public Highway is described
as follows:
ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or
tract of land and premises, situate,
lying and being in the Town of Newcastle,
in the Regional Municipality of Durham
(formerly in the Village of Newcastle,
County of Durham) and being composed of
Parts 1 & 2, as shown on the Department
of Highway of Ontario Plan Number P-2704-
81, and deposited as Instrument Number
N25252 in the Land Registry Office for
the Registry Division of Newcastle (10)
on March 19, 1965.
Read a first and second time this day of 1980.
Read a third time and passed this day of 1980.
