Item: Correspondence received from

Communications.

Subject: Ministry W.P. 59-75-02. Highways 401 and
35/115.
Background:
The Ministry of Transportation & Communications is proposing to
widen a portion of Highway 35/115 between Highways 401 and 2. The
more exact location is 'west of Cobbledick Road and south of
Highway 2' .
Report:
The proposed widening of Highway 35/115, between Highways 401 and
2, will necessitate the assumption of some Municipal property, by
the Ministry, for construction purposes. Upon completion of the
project, the land would be conveyed back to the Municipal, as is
normal practice wherein construction is effected by the Ministry.
At a Meeting with Ministry representatives on August 1, 1979, some
concerns were expressed on behalf of the Town of Newcastle relative
to this proposal. Since that time, however, all matters have been
resolved in a satisfactory manner (see attached M.T.C. letter of
November 6, 1979).
Recommendation:
THAT concurrence be given to the assumption of Municipal property
by the Ministry of Transportation & Communications for the duration
and purpose of widening that portion of Highway 35/115 between
Highways 401 and 2.
