To: Chairman & Members of the Public Works Committee.
From: J. Dunham, Director of Public Works.
Subject: James Street, Village of Newcastle.
Mr. D. MacDonald - Request to Close.
Background:
As a result of a request to pave James Street, west of Church Street,
Village of Newcastle, Public Works Committee, on June 8, 1978, passed
Resolution # W-211-78, as follows:-
"THAT this matter be referred to the
Director of Public Works for consideration
of the road maintenance and upgrading".
Report:
The subject street is a 'dead end' street, being approximately 280 ft.
in length and 66 ft. in width, and provides access to three existing
properties.
Recently an entrance permit application was submitted in respect of
the vacant lot situated on the north-west corner of James and Church
Street. In view of the existing by-law for the area, approval had to
be granted. With or without an additional entrance onto James Street,
improvements are required.
Recommendation:
That improvements be carried out during 1979 and that provision be
made for the same in the Budget for that year.
