HomeMy WebLinkAboutWD-28-75 Raoort N 28 (Cz) SCHOOL BUS LOADING ZON2s_ At the October 239 1975, Works Committee meeting , Resol- ution No. 467-75 referred the Board of Education request to myself for a cost estimate of the work involved. The cost of each loading zone for signing, including ere- ction, would be approximately $80.00 plus future maintenance® When considering a By-law for school bus loading zones, I feel certain criterias should be met, such as the number of buses stopping to pickup or discharge children during various times of the day. Also, the volume of traffic during those times, and the sepcified time each bus would be stopped. I would recommend that tc have a school bus loading zone the minimum number of buses should be four. In some areas considering the volume of traffic , the number of buses could be extended to six. Bowmanville Senior Elementary School on Queen Street has two buses in the A.M. and two again at 3:30 P.M. Central Public School on Elgin Street has one bus in the A.M., one at 11930 A.M. , one at DOO P.M. and one at 3930 P.M. Ontario Street Public School on Ontario Street has three buses in the A.M. and two at 3:30 P.M- (1) Bus loading zone not recommended for the Senior Elementary School on Queen Street at this time. However, I do recommend a school safety patrol. (2) Bus loading zone not recommended for the Central Public School on Elgin Street at this time. 2 2 Egg ge dation (continued) . . . . . ( 3) 3us loading zone not recommended for the Ont,'tiric, Street Public School on Ontario Street at this time. Fronti.ng this school is a cross-walk pro- perly signed, therefore immediately north or south of the existing cross-walk buses can stop to load or discharge children. However, I do recommend a school safety patrol. v J._ Dunham, Director Public Works Department.
