BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
The focus of the evening was to encourage and educate local suppliers and contractors on how
to do business with the Municipality. The evening included presentations by the Municipality of
Clarington staff and highlighted the two main construction projects currently underway, that
being, the Clarington Library I Municipal Administrative Centre Expansion and South Courtice
Park.
Presentations were also made by the Clarington Library, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District
School Board, the Durham Purchasing Co-operative and the Electronic Tendering Network.
The assistance and co-operative of the Municipality of Clarington Operations Department and
Community Services Department helped to make this event the success it was.
The first Clarington event held in 2000 attracted approximately 30 participants. This years event
had approximately 70 participants. Feedback received from those in attendance has been
extremely positive.
It is our hope, that this event will continue to grow in popularity and will further enhance the
communication between the Purchasing Division and both current and prospective suppliers.
