THAT Report COD-39-02 be received for information. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT As Council is aware on June 13, 2002, the Municipality of Clarington hosted its 2nd Supplier Information Night at the Courtice Community Complex. The first event was held in September 2000. To promote the event, advertisements were placed in local Newspapers and on the internet, including the Municipality of Clarington and the Clarington Board of Trade web sites. Director of Corporate Services MM\LAB\km 1212 'f,o - ~ REPORT NO.: cOD-39-o2 PAGE 2 BACKGROUND AND COMMENT The focus of the evening was to encourage and educate local suppliers and contractors on how to do business with the Municipality. The evening included presentations by the Municipality of Clarington staff and highlighted the two main construction projects currently underway, that being, the Clarington Library I Municipal Administrative Centre Expansion and South Courtice Park. Presentations were also made by the Clarington Library, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, the Durham Purchasing Co-operative and the Electronic Tendering Network. The assistance and co-operative of the Municipality of Clarington Operations Department and Community Services Department helped to make this event the success it was. The first Clarington event held in 2000 attracted approximately 30 participants. This years event had approximately 70 participants. Feedback received from those in attendance has been extremely positive. It is our hope, that this event will continue to grow in popularity and will further enhance the communication between the Purchasing Division and both current and prospective suppliers.
