Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report CD-18-96 be received;
2 . THAT the By-laws to designate the following properties be
prepared and forwarded to Council for passage :
• 68 Centre Street, Bowmanville, L1C 2Y3
• 1498 Regional Road 4 , Hampton, LOB 1JO
• 5 Beech Avenue, Bowmanville, L1C 3A1
• 1467 Prestonvale Road, Courtice, LlE 2P2
3 . THAT the Clerk be authorized to publish Notices of
Designation in the newspapers and forward a certified copy
of the by-laws to the property owners and to the Ontario
Heritage Foundation;
4 . THAT a copy of the by-laws designating the properties be
forwarded to the Town' s Solicitor for registration on title
so that future owners and anyone else who may be interested
in the properties will be aware of the fact that they have
been designated; and
5 . THAT the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee
be advised that the properties have been designated.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Council considered and adopted the recommendations contained in
Reports PD-112-95 and PD-144-95, which authorized the Clerk to
proceed with the designations of the subject properties .

The following actions have been completed in accordance with the
Ontario Heritage Act, R.S .O. 1990 :
1 . The property owners were requested to signify, in writing,
that they were prepared to undertake the designation of
their properties .
2 . Notice of Intention to Designate was forwarded to the owners
of each of the properties and to the Ontario Heritage
Foundation by Registered Mail . The Notice was published in
the local newspapers, once each week for three consecutive
weeks - January 24 , January 31 and February 7, 1996 . The
period for filing objections to the proposed designations
ended on February 23, 1996 . No objections were received in
this time period.
3 . By-laws to designate the properties pursuant to the Ontario
Heritage Act, R.S .O. 1990, will be presented to Council on
April 15, 1996 .
Once the by-laws have been passed, notices of designation will be
published in the local newspapers, and the by-laws will be
registered on title .
