REPORT
Meeting: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE File##
Date: APRIL 1, 1996 Res. #
By-Law#
Report#:---jcD_2_0 .0 File M
Subject: HAWKER AND PEDLAR ENFORCEMENT FOR EASTER WEEKEND
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report CD-20-96 be received for information; and
2 . THAT Karen Cockerham be advised of Staff' s actions .
Recently concern has been raised over the enforcement of the Hawkers
and Pedlars By-law during the Easter weekend.
Staff intend to follow the same procedure which proved effective last
year. The Durham Regional Police have been contacted and have agreed
to provide an officer to assist By-law staff for up to four hours each
day on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday.
Staff will be targetting those vendors from outside the municipality
who do not have a Hawker and Pedlar licence and those resident vendors
who operate in contravention of the Zoning By-law.
