THAT Report CD-23-96 be received; 2 . THAT the Designated Property Grant for the Newcastle Community Hall be approved in the amount of $2, 887 . 62 ; 3 . THAT the funds required be taken from the Miscellaneous Clearing Account #1003-15-X; and 4 . THAT Brenton Rickard be advised of Council' s decision. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT On July 4, 1994, Council approved, in principle, a Designated Property Grant in the amount of $3 , 000 . 00 . The delay in the restoration was due to the amount of time needed to locate a company who was able to perform the work satisfactorily. The work has now been completed and approved by the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee . It should be noted that the original grant amount which Council approved in principle was $3, 000 . 00 . However, in a letter received from the Ministry of Culture and Communications, it was stated that the total grant amount allocated to the Municipality of Clarington for 1994 was $15, 000 . In reviewing the applications for grants, LACAC decided to grant $3 , 000 . 00 to each individual home owner and divide the remainder between St . George' s Church and the Newcastle Community Hall . Therefore, the grant amount being requested for the community hall is less than the $3 , 000 previously approved.
