Subject: PORT GRANBY MONITORING COMMITTEE
Recc enid0g%pectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report CD-33-96 be received;
2 . THAT the following individuals be appointed to the Port
Granby Monitoring Committee :
Mavis Carlton
Martha Farrow
Barbara Humphrey
Jean Payne
Sarwan Sahota
Harvey Thompson; and
3 . THAT all applicants be advised of Council' s decision.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Following a delegation from Harvey Thompson, the Chair of the
former Community Liaison Group, wherein he advised that it could
conceivably take between seven and ten years before the waste is
removed from the Port Granby site, the following resolution was
passed:
"THAT the Port Granby Monitoring Committee be re-established
for the sole purpose of carrying on the work done by
previous community liaison groups, with a maximum budget of
$1, 500 per year to cover rental of meeting halls and
operating expenses; and
THAT Council contact, by letter, all existing Port Granby
residents to determine their interest is sitting on the
committee . "

Accordingly, correspondence was forwarded to all residents of the
Port Granby area, as taken from the latest assessment rolls . As
well, letters were sent to all members of the former Community
Liaison Group to determine their interest in continuing with the
work previously carried out .
In response to the correspondence, letters from the following
individuals have been received indicating their interest in
sitting on the committee :
