By-Law# Deport#:® .CO_�96 File #: Subject: FINANCIAL DONATIONS TO THE ANIMAL SHELTER - RESERVE ACCOUNT Recommendations: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1 . THAT Report CD-48-96 be received; and 2. THAT donations received by the Animal Control Services be deposited in the Animal Control Services Equipment Reserve, Account #2900-12-X. 1 . BACKGROUND 1 .1 Staff have determined that municipal receipts are accepted for Income Tax purposes for financial donations made by citizens who want to thank Animal Control Staff for a special service or a kind gesture. Because the donations are made specifically for the well being of the animals under our care it is recommended that these donations be allocated to the Animal Control Services Equipment Reserve Fund Account #2900-12-X rather than be included in the general municipal revenues. This will ensure that the intent of the donations is respected because the funds will be disbursed through the animal budget approval process, solely for the well being of the animals. The Treasury Department concurs with this recommendation.
