CD-6-95 - 2 - February 6, 1995
It should be noted that the original grant amount which Council
approved in principle for St . George' s Church was $3 , 000 .
However, in a letter received from the Ministry of Culture and
Communications in September, it was stated that the total grant
amount allocated to the Municipality of Clarington for 1994 was
$15, 000 . In reviewing the applications for grants, LACAC decided
to grant $3 , 000 to each individual home owner and divide the
remainder between St . George' s Church and the Newcastle Community
Hall . Therefore, the grant amount being requested for the church
is less than the $3, 000 previously approved.
It is, therefore, recommended that the grant applications in the
amount of $11, 364 be approved.

Work on The Newcastle Community Hall has also been approved
and a claim submitted . It turned out that the restoration was
less extensive than first believed and the cost was below the
quotation . As other restoration work is needed on this important
heritage building the Hall Board is presently considering several
other projects . This may cause a delay of several months . There-
fore the claim for their share of the Municipal grarttwi.11 be
submitted at a later date .
Yours very truly
