Subject: CL2002-5, ONE (1) 2002 CAB & CHASSIS, 35,000 GVW
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report COD-019-02 be received;
2. THAT Altec Industries LId, Milton, Ontario, with a total bid in the amount of $154,361.05
(including taxes and trade-in), being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender CL 2002-5, be awarded the contract to supply
One (1) 2002 Cab and Chassis, 35,000 GVW, as required by the Municipality of
Clarington, Operations Department; and
3. THAT the funds be provided from the 2002 Operations Vehicle I Heavy Equipment
Account # 7203-00000-0504.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Subsequent to Council approval of Report COD-010-02 requesting early budget approval,
tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of One (1) 2002 Cab &
Chassis, 35,000 GVW, as required by the Operations Department.
Tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule "A" attached.
It is staff's opinion that the trade-in offered ($18,000.00) for the 1994 Ford F450 with 30' Bucket
Ariel device exceeds that which would be realized at the Regional Auction Sale and it's
therefore recommended that it be accepted.
After further review and analysis of the tender by Operations and Purchasing, it was mutually
agreed that Altec Industries Ltd., Milton, Ontario, be recommended for the contract to supply
and deliver One (1) 2002 Cab & Chassis, 35,000 GVW, to the Municipality of Clarington, as
required by the Operations Department.
The required funds in the amount of $154,361.05, is within the 2002 Capital Budget allocation of
$160,000.00.
The Finance Director has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the
recommendations. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc., should be
referred to the Director of Operations.
The subject firm has not previously provided service for the Municipality of Clarington, but have
provided satisfactory service for the City of Toronto and the City of Weiland.
