THAT Report CD-15-93 be received; 2 . THAT the Designated Property Grant Application submitted by Mr. and Mrs . Lamont in the amount of $2,150.00 be approved in principle; 3 . THAT the funds required be taken from the Miscellaneous Clearing Account, 1003-00015-0000; and 4 . THAT Mr. and Mrs. Lamont, Mrs . Diana Grandfield, Chairman, Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee and the Ministry of Culture and Communications be advised of the actions taken. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: The Guy Gamsby House, 5085 Main Street, Orono, owned by Mr. and Mrs . Barry Lamont, was designated as a heritage property in January 1990. The owners have identified work at a cost of $4,300 .00 required to be done to the windows and have filed an application for a grant of $2,150 . 00 to assist in offsetting the costs associated with the project. Grants are available to owners of designated properties under the Ministry of Culture and Communications "Designated Property Grant Program" to cover 50 percent of the cost of the project, to a maximum of $3,000 . 00 per year. The Ministry has indicated that funds are available and it is appropriate that this application, which meets the programs grant criteria, be processed at this time. 2 Report CD-15-93 Page 2 July 19, 1993 For Committee's information, I advise that funding for the program requires that the Municipality pay the grant portion (first having determined that the works have been properly completed) and then make application to the Heritage Branch of the Ministry of Culture and Communications for reimbursement. The Town can obtain full recovery plus 10 percent to cover the administrative cost. The Treasurer has indicated that funds pertaining to designated property grants would be taken from the Miscellaneous Clearing Account 1003-00015-0000. Once the work has been completed and inspected by L.A.C.A.C. a subsequent report will be forwarded to the Committee authorizing payment of the grant.
