Cowan Pontiac Buick Ltd. $9 , 244. 00 Bowmanville, Ont . In view of a restricted budget allocation for a Step Van , specifications were designed to attract bids for an aluminum or steel body type van of any recent model year for a new vehicle. The steel body step van was specified, in the event , an aluminum body was not bid or the cost of an aluminum type would not be affordable, The initial preference of the Fire Department was to specify an aluminum body considering a life expectancy of 15-20 years , light weight and an extra sturdy box for retrofitting. Although 18" dual rear wheels were specified, the recommended bidder is providing 19" wheels whereas all other bids only specify 16" wheels which unfortunately does not meet required specif- ications. In view of the above, the immediate availability of the vehicle and the extra optional equipment being provided it is recom- mended that the bid from G.M.C. Truck Centre be accepted. The cost of this Step Van will be allocated to account no, 7102-0504-00001-7 which is within the budget provisions . After review and analysis of the bids for the mid size station wagon by the Fire Department and Purchasing it was agreed that the afore- mentioned recommendation be accepted and that the cost be allocated to account number 7105-0504-00001-7 which. would involve a transfer of $646. 00 from account # 7102-0131-00005--5, The Treasurer has been consulted in regard to the transfer proposed and can accomodate the request to supplement the previously provided allocation of funds . Respectfully submitted, fr' /pp Dennis M, Homeniuk, P'P. • Purchasing and Supply Agent
