After careful scrutiny of the low three bidders and inspection of
the vehicle it was determined that the vehicles proposed by these
bidders did not comply with the minimum specifications required.
As a result the next lowest bidder, being Thorncrest Ford Sales Ltd. ,
Islington , Ontario, complied with the specifications required, therefore
the staff has recommended that Thorncrest Ford Sales be awarded to
supply the vehicles as tendered.
Please note the attached memo , of which I concur, substantiating the
recommendation being proposed.
Respectfully submitted,

TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
MEMORANDUM
TO: D. Homeniuk, Purchasing Agent.
FROM: D.T. Gray, C.E.T.
DATE: September 13, 1982.
SUBJECT: Tender No. T82-1 .
Schedule "A".
Half-ton pick-up trucks.
I have reviewed the tender submissions in respect of the above,
and find that those of Roy Nichols Motors Limited, Cowan Pontiac
Buick Limited and Philp Pontiac Buick Limited do not meet the
engine specifications for regular gasoline. Accordingly, I
recommend the tender be awarded to the next bidder who meets
specifications.
At present, all Public Works' fleet operate either on diesel
fuel or regular gasoline, and any alternate fuel would involve
additional storage and pumping facilities.
In consideration of the delay in purchasing the required three
2-tons trucks, this Department will not be sending the old
units to the Regio Auction.
