REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD
SEPTEMBER 27, 1982.

SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF LEASE FOR THE COURT FACILITIES IN THE POLICE
AND FIRE BUILDING
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that:
1 . This report be received; and
2. The "Offer to Renew Lease" between Her Majesty the
Queen and the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
be approved; and
3. The Clerk be authorized to draw a by-law to execute the
"Offer to Renew the Lease" and said by-law be forwarded
to Council .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
The lease between the Corporation and Her Majesty the Queen (Ministry of
Government Services) expires December 31 , 1982.
The original lease agreement contains a renewal clause being Clause 18 to
the agreement which states as follows:
18 a) if the tenant is not in default under this lease the
landlord will at the expiration of the term grant a renewal for a further
term of five years, at the same rental ;
b) the tenant shall give notice to the landlord of her
intention to renew this lease at least three months prior to the end of
the term; and

c) The terms and conditions of this lease shall apply
during the renewal term with the exception of this proviso for renewal .
On September 2, 1982 the Ministry of Government Services notified the
Corporation of its intention to renew the lease for a further five years.
(letter attached) The "Offer to Renew the Lease" forms are attached
to be executed by the signing officers of the Corporation.

being a by-law to authorize the execution
of an "Offer to Renew Lease" with Her
Majesty the Queen
The Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle ENACTS AS
FOLLOWS:
_ THAT the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute
on behalf of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle and
seal with the Corporation Seal an "Offer to Renew Lease"
between Her Majesty the Queen and the Corporation, dated
the day of 1982, which is attached
hereto as Schedule "A".
READ A FIRST AND SECOND TIME this 4th day of October 1982
READ A THIRD AND FINAL TIME this 4th day of October 1982
