REPORT TO THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 7, 1982

SUBJECT: GRAVEL CRUSHING & HOT MIX RESURFACING TENDERS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that:
1 . That this report be received; and
2. That Robert Young Construction Limited, Ennismore with
a total bid amount of $85,490.00, being the lowest
responsible bidder, meeting all terms and specifications
be awarded the tender to crush and haul gravel in
accordance with Tender T82-3, and that the funds
expended for this work be charged to account #7209-000-316
#7209-000-317 which are within the budget provisions, and
3. That Bennett Paving and Materials Limited, Oshawa, with a
total bid amount of $193,836.03, being the lowest
responsible bidder, meeting all terms and specifications
be awarded the tender to supply and place Hot Mix Asphalt
in accordance with Tender T82-4 and that the funds
expended for this work be charged to account #7208-000-010
#7205-000-000 Ontario Hydro/which are within the budget
provisions.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders T82-3 and T82-4 respectively were called for Gravel Crushing and
Hauling and Hot Mix Resurfacing as required by the Town of Newcastle Public Works
Department. After review and analysis of the bids by the Director of Public
Works and the Purchasing and Supply Agent, a decision resulted in the above
recommendations.
