REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINSITRATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD
ON JULY 12, 1982

SUBJECT: AUDIT FEES FOR NEWCASTLE B.I .A.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended :
1. That this matter of the requirement of the Newcastle B.I .A.
to meet its audit fee be considered by committee; and
2.That staff be given direction regarding the disposition of this
matter.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Upon receipt of the annual audit fee for the 1981 fiscal year all local boards
which had audits performed by the external auditors were billed those fees
billed to the Town. The Newcastle B.I .A. has returned our invoice to them
for these services Iand has refused to pay this account (see attached letter) .
To my knowledge, The Town has in the past, made the initial payment of the
audit fees for the boards,then billed those fees of the boards concerned.
All local boards having an audit by the external auditor are required by
The Municipal Act to use the services of The Corporation's external auditor.
