.SUBJECT: NEWCASTLE FITNESS CENTRE "SPLASH" FUNDRAISING PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that this report be received for information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
As Committee is aware the funding of the "Splash" pool must be completed
prior to the end of the term of this Council . Because of a lack of O.M.B. approval
we are unable to carry the unfunded capital balance forward into another Council ' s
term.

Attached is a form letter from the Splash Fundraising Committee to its
contributors who have pledges outstanding. The letter, I feel , is self-explanatory.

The Committee has indicated to me that they hope to make a further
contribution towards their committment in July 1982 and have some more
concrete information regarding its ability to meet the balance of its
financial committment. .

Re: Indoor Swimming Pool
We were in touch with you earlier this year
concerning when we might expect receipt of the $ balance of
your pledge which you indicated initially would be paid for the
year (s)
The Town of Newcastle has insisted that
the $71, 000. 00 balance of our pledges be paid this year.
We would appreciate it if the remaining
part of your pledge could be paid by July lst next. If you are un-
able to do this please contact the undersigned and advise the date
later on this year when you will make your payment.
We enclose a self-addressed reply envelope
for your convenience. A receipt for income tax purposes will be
forwarded for each donation.
Thank you for your support in providing
the Town of Newcastle with a much needed and used pool .
