SUBJECT: Information Insert for the 1982 Tax Bills

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that:
1. That this report be received for consideration; and
2. That Committee and Council act on this matter prior
to May 17 , 1982.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Attached is a mock-up of the insert proposed for the
1982 final tax bill mailing. Some of the numbers are incomplete because
the Separate School Board's levy was not available at the time
of writing this report.
This material does give Members of Committee a
general view of the proposed format for 1982.

1982 FINAL TAX BILLING NOTICE
Enclosed is your Final Tax Bill for 1982.
Taxes may be paid in two instalments: July 30, 1982 and September 30,
1982. 1982 Taxes are payable during 1982 only at any Branch of the
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in the Regional Municipality of
Durham and at The Town of Port Hope without charge. 1981 and prior years
taxes are payable at the Town Hall .
In 1982 The Province of Ontario will contribute $ for every
dollar of Realty and Business Tax imposed by The Town of Newcastle.'
Your 1982 tax dollar is apportioned as follows:
On a house assessed at $3000
{ Taxes would be $975.72 (3000 x Base Mill Rate of 325.24)
Of this amount the Town receives $265.47 27.2%
Of this amount the Region of Durham receives 189.18 19.4
Of this amount N. & N. Secondary School receives 240.21 24.6
Of this amount N. & N. Elementary School receives 280.86 28.8
