T R 4;-82 2 SUBJECT: OUTSTANDING INVOICES LOCAL BOARDS RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended: 1. That Council approve a provision of $40,000 against the balances outstanding from the local boards as at December 31st, 1981. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT,: Subsequent to Council direction the Treasury Department has contacted all the Local Boards concerned in this matter, and to this date have not received any positive responses to the requests for payment of these outstanding accounts. This provision allows for the write off of the majority of the insurance charges which remain outstanding. The Treasury Department will continue to meet with the local boards in the coming months in an attempt to collect this money. This provision does not allow for the write off of fuel oil charges at this time. It is felt that these operating costs should be recouped from the local boards concerned. At this time, there remains approximately $51,000 in insurance charges outstanding The majority of the local boards which replied to our letter did not supply financial information to support their denial to pay the outstanding charges. This lack of information is the basis on which we make the recommendation of the provision for $40,000 write off rather than the total amount at this time. Respectfully submitted, KAC:gf Kathryn A.
