Recommendation:
"That the Deputy Treasurer/Tax Collector be authorized to attend
the Association of Municipal Tax Collectors of Ontario Education
Seminar and Workshop, on 'May the 14th and 15th at the Toronto
Hilton Harbour Castle Hotel , "
Report:
As the attached agenda for the seminar and workshop will indicate, the
subjects to be discussed are particular interest to Municipal Tax
Collectors.
Funds are provided for this type of seminar under account number 7006-202-000
Financ - Department Convention and Conference expenses.

The Association of Municipal Tax Collectors of Ontario is once
again conducting an Education Seminar and Workshop for Tax Collectors
and member of their staff.
Attached you will find the preliminary agenda for the seminar.
The cost of this year' s event is $40 . 00 for member municipalities
and $50 . 00 for non-members - includes Thursday lunch. (non-members join-
ing the association will be credited the $10 . 00 difference toward member-
ship)
Accomodation has been secured at the Hilton Harbour Castle and
the rates are as follows :
Single $ 65 . 00
Double 80. 00
Suites 170. 00
A reservation card from the Hotel is enclosed and I would ask
that you note the reservation deadline of April 10 , 1981. (additional
cards are available upon request)
A seminar registration form is also attached and I would request
that you forward it, accompanied by your cheque made payable to The
Association of Municipal Tax Collectors, to me no later than April 22 , 1981.

Court
Mr. Bowlby will be discussing the make-up of the
A.R.C. , legislation governing the court as well as
changes proposed to the court.

10 : 45 - Mr. Robert Johnston, Property and Assessment Manager
City of Mississauga
Mr. Johnston will be addressing the issue of a muni-
cipality' s role in the assessment function and will
highlight appeal procedures .

Municipal Grants Division
Mr. Liston will be speaking on how municipal
grants are determined, methods used as well
as the revisions to The Municipal Grants Act.
