SUBJECT: Resolution C-80-1501' - Northumberland and Newcastle Board of
Education - Assessment Equalization Factors

Report:
The purpose of this report is to provide the Committee with
information regarding the meeting with the-School Board; the resolution
further went on to require that the Treasurer report on the effect of the
new Equalization Factors on this Municipality. After the passing of this
resolution I had opportunity to meet with Mr. Jim Bird, Treasurer and
Business Administrator for the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of
Education regarding this meeting. Mr. Bird informed me that he would
not be presenting any new reports or information at this meeting and that
the School Board's apportionments would be on the same basis as in the past
year.
Although, new factors were used for the last year no changes in
apportionment resulted from that because of the limiting factors imposed
by the Ministry of Education. It is my understanding from the conversation
with Mr. Bird that those limitation will continue again for the next year,
1981.
It is my understanding from Mr, Bird, that the proposed meeting
will be mainly for the elected representatives to decide if a presentation
should be made to the Ministry in regard to the future of Equalization Factors
etc.
