"THAT the Town Manager have a report
regarding Workmen' s Compensation for Volunteer
Firemen at the next Council Meeting
In response to the above mentioned resolution we would advise that
the Workmen's Compensation Board has recently announced that the
maximum coverage for volunteer firemen has been increased to $18,500.00
and at present the volunteer firemen are covered for $15,000.00
annual salary.
In reviewing this matter with the Treasurer an employer may choose
any level of coverage to the maximum in multiples of $1,000.00 to
this new maximum. The Treasurer advises that the increased cost
for increasing coverage from $15,000.00 to $18,500.00 for 73
volunteers is $345.00 per year.
RECOMMENDATION: That the matter of increased coverage for
Workemen's Compensation for Volunteer Firemen
be referred to 1981 Budget discussions.
