SUBJECT: Wage Adjustments - (a) Crossing Guards
(b) Cleaning Staff, Hampton Hall
The Town of Newcastle employs nine Crossing Guards and these
employees work the school term, September through to June. In September of
1978 Council set the rate for the 1978-79 school term at $2.85 per hour, and
the 1979-80 school tern at $3.00 per hour.
During the preparation of the 1980 budget Staff included an
8% increase in the School Crossing Guard budget to bring the hourly rate to
$3.25 per hour, effective September, 1980.
The maintenance of the Hampton Municipal Building is carried
out by Mrs. Montgomery of Hampton and her rate of pay was set by Council in
September of 1978 at $3.75 per hour. During the preparation of the 1980
budget Staff included an amount in Account # 7021-002 to allow the caretaker's
rate to be increased to $4.00 per hour for 1980.
Recal-imendatioil:
I. That the School Crossing Guard hourly rate be increased to
$3.25 effective September, 1980.
2. That the hourly rate for Mrs. Montgomery be increased to
$4.00 per hour effective January 1, 1980.
