Guiler, Town Manager DATE: January 24th, 1980 SUBJECT: Bureau of Municipal Research - Seminar on Cost Saving Innovations in Local Government Attached for your information is a notice of a two day seminar on Cost Saving Innovations in Local Government to be held in Toronto on April 3rd, 1980. We would recommend to Council that two members of staff and Members of Council be authorized to attend this seminar. a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT The Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs and the Bureau of Municipal Research are co-sponsoring three additional seminars on Cost Saving Innovations in Local Government. Windsor, Toronto and Sudbury will host the seminars on 28/29 March, 18/19 April and 2/3 May 1980 with sessions starting early Friday afternoon and ending early Saturday afternoon. These will be working seminars for both elected and appointed persons interested in taking a very close look at some of the most successful innovations" developed by Ontario municipalities over the past few years. Registration will be limited to 100 to ensure ample opportunity for dialogue. Registration of $35.00 will cover Friday dinner and Saturday lunch as well as a conference kit with considerable information on cost-saving innovations. Please make cheques payable to Bureau of Municipal Research. Toronto and Sudbury will include additional items of interest to local government. The seminars will be held at the National Travellers Hotel in Windsor; the Sheraton Caswell in Sudbury and a hotel to be advised on the Airport Strip, Toronto.
