SUBJECT: Structural Evaluation Bowmanville Town Hall Roof
"Resolution #F-317-79
THAT the Building Committee be authorized to call
in a structural engineer to examine the truss work
to which the roof will be attached."
Resolution #F-•317-79 was submitted to Council as Item X65 of Report 163,
September 10th, 1979 and the recommendation was approved by Council
resolution SIC--1167-79 and By-Law x'679--95.
A letter was then sent to five consultant firms requesting that they
submit a proposal to carry out an inspection outlining the step by step
method that such an assessment would take and also the length of time required
as we propose to carry out the necessary repairs during the 1.979 construction
season. We also requested they submit a separate price for a complete
structural study of the whole facility.
The following firms were contacted.
1) Marshall Macklin Monaghan Limited
2) Totten, Sims, Hubicki Associates Limited
3) C. M. Sernas & Associates Limited
4) E. F. Marston Engineering Limited
5) D. G. Biddle & Associates Limited
Three of the five firms listed above have submitted prices and two firms
were unable to submit a proposal due to their present workload.
I would recommend that the Building Committee meet as quickly as possible
to appoint an engineer so this work can be completed in 1979.
