REPORT NO. : P-170-80 SUBJECT: Metric Conversion of Village of Newcastle Zoning By-law BACKGROUND: The Provincial Government had requested municipalities to convert existing zoning by-laws to metric units by 1980. As you are aware, the Village of Newcastle Zoning By-law has recently received Ontario Munici- pal Board approval, and now requires the conversion of this document to metric units. Planning Staff have been preparing all zoning by-law amendments since September 1, 1979 in metric units in accordance with Pro- vincial guidelines for Planning documents. Therefore, as part of the con- tinuing conversion process the Newcastle Village Zoning By-law is the last By-law to be completed. COMMENT: Planning staff have prepared the attached conversion by-law in accordance with Ministry guidelines whereby new standards must not vary from existing standards by more than 5%.
