(416)263-2231 June 26, 1980 Mr. J. Stewart, President Durham Condominium Association P. 0. Box 30 WHITBY, Ontario LIN 5R7 Dear Sir: Thank you very much for your recent letter to Newcastle Council in respect of the purpose and activities of the Durham Condominium Association. Town Council received your letter and asked that I respond on their behalf. At the moment, the Town of Newcastle is not considering any new condominium proposals. In the past, the Town has accepted and processed condominium applications in the same fashion as plans of subdivision, whereby proposed plans are forwarded to different government departments and agencies for review. I think it would be very valuable for the Town to receive conmients on new proposals directly from your association in light of your everyday experience with condominium living. I look for- ward to further discussions with you in that regard. For your information, I have enclosed a copy of a recent Ministry of Housing letter in respect of the processing of condo- inii.nium developments which may be of interest to you. I also draw your attention to a recent Ministry of Housing publication entitled "Site Planning Guidelines for Medium Density Housing" which does contain useful standards for play area design. The publication also contains a useful bibliography. /2 0/ Mr. J. Stewart, President - 2 - June 26, 1980 Thank you very much for your letter and your interest in the Town of Newcastle. Please do not hcsltc o to contact this Department if we can be of any assistance on any matter. Yours very truly, DNS:lb D. N. Smith, M.C.I .P. Encl. Director of Planning
