SUBJECT: Special Study Area 8

BACKGROUND:
In February of this year, staff received a copy of the Back-
ground Study for Special Study Area 8, as prepared by Proctor and
Redfern Ltd. Since a formal request for comments has never been made,
we have only provided cursory comments on the background study at this
point in time. We have, however, requested Oshawa's Planning staff to
keep us advised of any future meetings convened in respect of the Study
Area; and to forward any further reports prepared by the consultants.
We note that our involvement, to this point, has been limited to informal
discussions with the project consultants and that our actions are intended
to ensure that Newcastle's input is sought and given due consideration.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning and Development Committee recommend to Council
that this report be received for information.
