AND MRS. T. HALL, 58 QUEEN STREET BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report CD-28-89 be received; 2 . THAT the Designated Property Grant Application submitted by Mr. and Mrs . T. Hall, for a grant of $675. 00 be approved; 3 . THAT the funds required be taken from the Miscellaneous Clearing Account #1003-00015-0000; and 4. THAT Mr. and Mrs . T. Hall be advised of the actions taken. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: The property owned by Mr. and Mrs . T. Hall, 58 Queen Street, Bowmanville, was designated as a Heritage Property earlier in the year. The owners have identified work at a cost of $1,350 . 00 required to be done to the exterior surface of the structure and have filed an application for a grant of $675. 00 to assist in offsetting the costs associated with the project. Grants are available to owners of designated properties under the Ministry of Culture and Communications "Designated Property Grant Program. " The Ministry has indicated that funds are available and it is appropriate that this application, which meets the program's grant criteria, be processed at this time. Continued . . . . . /2 602 Report CD-28-89 - 2 - December 4, 1989 Normally, Council must approve designated property grants in principle prior to the work being commenced. However, in this instance, the documentation to complete the designation process was held up in the Solicitor's office for an extremely long time and it was necessary for the applicants to proceed with the repairs to the deteriorated bricks . The Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee has inspected and approved the completed work. The Ministry has indicated that as long as the designation process had commenced at the time the work was done, the grants would be processed. It is, therefore, recommended that the grant application submitted by Mr. and Mrs . Hall in the amount of $675 . 00 be approved at this time.
