APPROVAL OF TILE DRAINAGE LOAN APPLICATION

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report CD-22-89 be received;
2 . THAT the Tile Drainage Loan Application submitted by Joe
Christl Sr. , in the amount of $16,400 . 00 be approved;
3. THAT the attached by-law be approved and the by-law and
necessary support documents be forwarded to the Regional
Municipality of Durham for processing; and
4. THAT Mr. Joe Christl be advised that his loan has been
approved.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Mr. Joe Christl filed an application for a Tile Drainage Loan in
the amount of $16,400.00 on July 21, 1989, at which time the works
had been completed. Invoices totalling $21,963 .70 were submitted
to the Public Works Department for review. The drainage inspector
inspected the works and filed an Inspection and Completion
Certificate on May 18, 1989, in the amount of $16,400 . 00 .

We have been advised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food that
this application exceeds the Town of Newcastle's budget for the
year by $900 . 00, however, the Ministry did not feel that the over-
expenditure would be a problem, and recommended that the Town
forward the request to the Ministry.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Tile Drainage Loan
Application in the amount of $16,400.00 be approved, the necessary
by-law be forwarded to Council for passage, and the application,
when approved by Council, forwarded to the Region of Durham for
processing.
